Nonprofit Returns (Form 990)

Form 990 returns for charities and tax-exempt organizations, prepared virtually by an IRS Enrolled Agent. Which version you file depends on your size — we'll confirm that first.

What We Need

What we need to get started

Here is what to gather for your organization's annual filing.

What we need

  • Your EIN and IRS determination letter (your exempt status)
  • Formation documents and mission statement
  • Last year's Form 990
  • Total gross receipts and assets for the year — this decides whether you file the 990-N, 990-EZ, or full 990
  • Statement of revenue and expenses, and a balance sheet
  • Revenue broken out: contributions and grants, program service revenue, membership dues, fundraising, and investment income
  • Grants your organization made to others
  • Your largest vendors or contractors paid
  • A list of officers, directors, trustees, and key employees, with any compensation
  • A description of your program accomplishments for the year
  • Board policies (conflict of interest, whistleblower, document retention) and board minutes

Don't skip a year: even the smallest nonprofits must file something every year, and missing three years in a row automatically revokes your tax-exempt status. We'll make sure the right version gets filed on time.

What's included

  • A review of your finances and governance information
  • Preparation of the correct version — Form 990-N, 990-EZ, or the full 990
  • Secure electronic filing with the IRS
  • A copy of the completed return for your board's records
  • If we make an error on your return, we fix it

* Please note: preparation timelines begin once all required documents are uploaded to your secure client portal. Not sure what applies to you? We'll walk through it together on a quick phone call.
