Sole Proprietor Returns (Schedule C)

Self-employment returns on Schedule C, filed with your personal Form 1040 and prepared virtually for clients nationwide by an IRS Enrolled Agent.

What We Need

What we need to get started

Here is what to gather for your self-employed business. If your bookkeeping isn't finished yet, we can point you to a simple way to get there.

What we need

  • Profit and loss statement — your income and expenses by category
  • 1099-NEC and 1099-K forms you received
  • Prior year's tax return
  • Business mileage log, or your actual vehicle expenses
  • Home-office details (the square footage used for business), if you claim it
  • A list of equipment or assets purchased during the year to depreciate
  • Self-employed health insurance premiums you paid
  • Estimated tax payments made during the year

Tip: keeping business income and expenses separate from personal spending makes your return smoother — and often lowers it. Not sure a cost counts? Bring it and we'll sort it out together.

What's included

  • Review of your income and expense records
  • Complete preparation of your Schedule C with your Form 1040
  • Self-employment tax calculated correctly
  • Secure electronic filing with the IRS and your state
  • A copy of your completed return in your secure client portal
  • Quarterly estimated tax payment vouchers for next year, if you need them
  • If we make an error on your return, we fix it

* Please note: preparation timelines begin once all required documents are uploaded to your secure client portal. Not sure what applies to you? We'll walk through it together on a quick phone call.
